Highlights & Recap: ACDHA Annual Meeting

What a memorable weekend! ACDHA members gathered for an incredible time filled with fellowship, powerful hitch performances, productive association meetings, and a few emotional moments we won't soon forget.

Exploring Auburn & The Draft Horse Classic

We kicked off our trip with a tour around the historic town of Auburn, CA. We explored cool historic buildings and—because you know horse people can scoop out a tack shop anywhere—found a local tack store to browse!

On Friday evening, we headed over to the Nevada County Fairgrounds for the Draft Horse Classic. We watched incredible draft horse hitches, exciting side shows, and saw John and his team of Creams hit the arena pulling his iconic fire wagon. We broadcasted a few Facebook Live videos during the show so members at home could follow along with the action!

Saturday was dedicated to association business during our official annual meeting.

Sunday Arena Retirement Ceremony

While most members began heading home on Sunday, Linda and I stayed to attend one more session at the Draft Horse Classic to witness a truly special milestone.

During the main arena performance, John held an official retirement ceremony for his three older Cream geldings, who have dedicated years of service pulling his fire wagons and engines. There wasn't a dry eye in the house—including John's. It was a beautiful tribute to three outstanding horses who have represented the American Cream Draft breed so faithfully. Looking Ahead to Next Year!

We had a wonderful time reconnecting and celebrating our horses.

We want to extend a warm invitation to all ACDHA members both Full and Associate alike to join us for next year's annual meeting!
